Many of the stressors\, trauma\, and health issues relating to suicide are not uncommon to the Muslim community\, but there are cultural differences as it relates to prevention and intervention. \nDr. Abbasi will describe the culture of Islam and how it views the topic of mental illness from assessments to treatment services. She is also the Founder & Director of the Racial Justice & Health Equity Research and Education Collaborative and recently completed a book entitled What Don’t Kill Us Makes Us Stronger: Black Women on Suicide. DESCRIPTION:Free Virtual MHFA Training\nWe are pleased to announce entirely virtual Mental Health First Aid training hosted by the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County! Thanks to The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services funding\, this training is free of charge.  \nSome things to know about the training: \n1. There are two portions of the training \na. The first is a 2-hour self-paced online course  \nb. The second is a 6.5-hour live virtual training with instructors\, completed via Zoom; this portion is scheduled from 9:00am-3:30pm with breaks built in.  \n2. In order to participate in the live virtual training\, you must first complete the 2-hour self-paced online course \na. If you do NOT complete this portion in its entirety by 5:00pm two days before the live training\, you will not be able to join the live virtual training \n3. In order to receive a certificate of completion\, you must complete both portions of the training in their entirety \n4.
